Search on for €23m Euromillions winner
The hunt is on for Ireland's latest multimillionaire after it emerged the €23m winning ticket for the jackpot in last night's Euromillions draw was sold here.
The sole winner or winners will pick up the entire jackpot worth €23,845,060.
The winning numbers drawn in Paris last night were: 2, 11, 13, 40, 50 and Lucky Stars 1 and 10.
It's not known where the winning ticket was sold and officials from the National Lottery said it could be next week before they will release details.
But judging by the speed in which word leaked out when Euromillions winner Delores McNamara scooped €115m in July 2005, champagne corks could be popping way before then.
Ms McNamara, a former cleaner and mother of six from Limerick, is now among the top 100 richest people in Ireland after she won the then largest jackpot in Euromillions history, prompting journalists to camp outside the National Lottery headquarters for three days before she came forward to collect her winnings.
The jackpot is the country's eighth since the European wide lottery was first launched in 2004.
Last February, a syndicate of friends - who have remained anonymous - claimed a €66m jackpot. They had bought the ticket in the Easons store in the Fairgreen Shopping Centre, Carlow.
Other recent winners include a €94m ticket in 2013, bought in the Beaumont area of Dublin, and a Dublin syndicate who shared an €86.7m jackpot in September 2014.
