He's best-known for doing rounds of his patients on hit sitcom Scrubs, but American actor John C McGinley settled for a round of golf while holidaying in Dublin.

The TV star (55), who played Dr Perry Cox on the comedy show, looked right at home in the capital as he enjoyed a game of golf at St Anne's Golf Club in Dollymount earlier this week.

McGinley was all smiles as he posed for pictures at the seaside course.

The funnyman proved a big hit with his fellow golfers, with one fan calling him a "gent".

"Met John C McGinley today, took time out of his game to speak to us and get in a picture," Colin Masterson tweeted. "100pc absolute gent."

After working up a thirst with an afternoon on the course, the Hollywood star headed to city centre bar Dakota where he pulled himself a pint.

Sharing pictures of the actor getting acquainted with staff, the bar tweeted: "Thanks for helping out last night."
