Rugby hunk Rob faces competition from Tubs and Bressie for Bachelor of the Year accolade

A Jock, a cutie, a badboy and a geek are all fighting it out to be named Bachelor of the Year.

Last year, rugby player Tommy Bowe (28) took home the accolade when he was named the country's sexiest right back and the 'Deadliest Catch' as part of the annual entertainment.ie awards.

This year, newly single Leinster player Rob Kearney (26) is in the running for the title.

Rob spilt with his actress girlfriend Susie Amy during the summer, and has been catching the eyes of single ladies ever since.

But competition to bag the accolade will be fierce.

He's in the biggest boy band on the planet so it comes as no great surprise that 1D's Niall Horan is up there.

Niall has been linked with several ladies over the past few months, but the 19-year-old superstar insists that he's 'as single as a pringle'.

Fellow Mullingar man Niall Breslin (32) is also in with a shot for the title. Last month, Bressie was named Rear of The Year.

The nation's favourite dork Ryan Turbridy appears to be a favourite of some women at least and has also earned a nomination.

Presenter Dylan Haskins is also in with a shot for the title. Dylan, who is now a curator of the Dublin Theatre Festival, said: "My mum has obviously been speaking to the guys at entertainment.ie."

Others up for the award include chefs Dylan McGrath and Donal Skehan, musician Mick Flannery, Spin 108.3 presenter Riyadh Khalafis but our money has got to be riding on that baby-faced killer, Robert Sheehan (24), who plays Darren in RTE's hit crime drama Love/Hate.

The result will be announced on January 16 in The Village.
