Rubberbandits' show will be 'comedic take on Irish attitudes to sex' - RTE
RTE insisted that they're not going down the Big Brother route with a TV show featuring couples having sex.
Limerick comedy hip-hop duo The Rubberbandits are currently in pre-production for a new documentary series for the national broadcaster, and one episode will concentrate on Irish attitudes to sex.
However, an RTE spokeswoman has poured cold water on speculation that the satirical performers are making an x-rated programme.
"It will be nothing like Love Island or Big Brother," she said.
Both recently recieved complaints for showing sex scenes.
"A new series with the Rubberbandits is currently in development. Nothing has been shot yet and a number of topics - including Irish attitudes to sex - are being looked at for the Rubberbandits to tackle in their own inimitable style.
"It's a comedic take on Irish attitudes to sex," the RTE spokesperson added.
The four-part series will examine a range of different topics, including one looking at modern dating rituals.
The show has been green-lighted by the broadcaster, and an ad was recently placed by The Rubberbandits on an adult website trying to find people to take part.
The advert read: "Professional porn actors and ordinary couples wanted for paid TV gig. I'm working on a TV series that examines our relationship to sex. Ultimately, these sex clips will be broadcast on a television show and everyone's private parts will be covered up with clip art."
