Robin Williams daughter Zelda 'heartbroken' by sudden death of Cathriona White
Robin Williams’s daughter Zelda has paid tribute to Irish make-up artist Cathriona White following her untimely death earlier this week.
The Tipperary make-up artist (28), who dated Canadian actor Jim Carrey (53), died tragically on Monday from a suspected suicide.
Zelda (26) – whose father took his life last year (both pictured right) – said she was “heartbroken” by the news of the aspiring actress’s death and directed her followers to Irish suicide prevention charity Pieta House.
“Heartbroken to continue to watch sweet, kind souls be consumed by darkness. May it never hurt less, so we never grow numb to the loss,” she tweeted.
Cathriona, who dated Carrey on and off since 2012, was found dead at her home in Los Angeles on Monday night.
One of her friends, Candece Campbell, has spoken of her heartbreak at her loss.
“When someone takes their life, we all think about what we could have done, if anything.
“The truth is most of us are so consumed with our own ‘busyness’ and we aren’t there for each other like we should be.”
Candece described her friend’s caring side.
“The last text I got from Cat read, ‘Hey babe, checking on you, if you need me I’m here for you and I love you’.
“Well that was on Sept 22, and now today she’s gone. She was in pain herself, but checking on me to see what I needed.
“That really sums up who she was,” Candece said.
Cathriona died just days after she ‘signed off’ Twitter following her alleged break-up with Carrey.
“Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest,” she wrote.
Another friend, Judd Weiss (35), said her life may have been saved if instead she had written the message on Facebook.
“Tweets just go out and they’re lost in the ether,” he said.
“But if she had written that on Facebook, friends would have been notified and may have called her. It was such a suspicious tweet, there’s no way that would have gone unnoticed if it was on Facebook.
“She was such a kind, beautiful, sweet and gracious person. She had so much potential ahead of her,” he added.
While there is speculation that Ms White’s death may have been suicide, an official ruling has not yet been made.
In a statement released by the White family, who hail from the rural village of Cappawhite, Cathriona was described as their “shining light” who will be missed “terribly”.
