Robbie Williams was the surprise guest at the party of the year to celebrate the man regarded as the greatest jump jockey of all time.

The star told the crowd at AP McCoy's retirement bash at Adare Manor in Co Limerick that he was the "Justin Bieber for the over-30s" and belted out Angel and Let Me Entertain You.

Guests at the do hosted by JP McManus included Brian O'Driscoll and his wife Amy Huberman, along with Paul O'Connell and his wife Emily.

While Williams is rock royalty, there was real royalty too as Zara Philips arrived. Clare Balding was MC.

Westlife star Shane Filan kicked off the night with a performance of his solo hits and Westlife's back catalogue.

Hurling legend Henry Shefflin was also there, along with jockey Robbie McNamara.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Minister for Finance Michael Noonan toasted McCoy (inset) in a specially built racetrack-themed, two-storey marquee that took months to erect.

One guest said there was a "casino-type" atmosphere at the bash, where Dom Perignon flowed all night.

"It was spectacular", the guest said. "They showed all of AP's best big races on a big screen and guests could hop on virtual horses.

"And Robbie Williams was just amazing."
