Research: Irish companies raise R&D spend by 13pc
SPENDING on research and development (R&D) has shot up by 13pc, according to new research.
Investment in this area appears to remain an important strategic priority for top firms despite the downturn in the economy.
Last year a total of 16 companies in Ireland were listed in the top 1,000 companies for R&D spend in the EU.
The previous year, Ireland only had 12 firms make the list but the UK, France and Germany are still the top R&D spenders in the EU. Overall R&D investment by top EU companies fell by 2.6pc in 2009.
