Repay debts, EU tells Ireland


Brussels has recommended that any extra money that goes to Government this year should be used to reduce debt and narrow the deficit further. And it warned that Ireland was at risk of not complying with strict EU debt and deficit rules.

Brussels has issued four so-called "country specific recommendations" for Ireland which include cutting spending on medicines, boosting the work intensity of households and reducing child poverty, and finalising mortgage arrears solutions.
