Pub-goer charged with attack in laneway

A WEST Dublin man has been accused of assaulting and injuring another man outside a pub.

Daniel McGibney (56) had the case against him adjourned at Blanchardstown District Court.

Mr McGibney, of Oakwood Grove, Clondalkin, is charged with assault causing harm to a man at the Steering Wheel Pub, Main Street, Clondalkin, last September 22.

Sgt Walter Sweeney said it would be alleged that the accused and the other man were at the premises on the day.

Outside, it was alleged the defendant ran towards the man and punched him in the face.

The next thing the alleged victim remembered was lying injured on the ground.

Judge McHugh accepted jurisdiction to deal with the case at district court level. He adjourned it to July 31 and remanded the defendant on continuing bail.
