Profits of €275k is music to laura's ears
The cash pile at the media firm owned by MTV Europe presenter Laura Whitmore last year almost doubled to €275,000.
One of Ireland's most successful broadcasters operating abroad, Whitmore is now reaping the dividends of her high-profile work with MTV, BBC, Channel 4 and ITV in Britain.
New accounts filed at Companies House in the UK show that the cash pile at the presenter's Laura Whitmore Ltd increased by £99,646 or 85pc from £117,350 to £216,996 (€275,262) in the 12 months to the end of March this year.
The lucrative 2014 and 2013 Whitmore has enjoyed reflects the 29-year old's meteoric rise in the British showbusiness industry.
The presenter, from Bray, Co Wicklow, works mainly with MTV but has also had stints working on ITV's I'm a Celebrity… Get me out of here which attracts millions of viewers.
Whitmore studied journalism at Dublin City University (DCU) where she edited a student magazine and worked as a researcher for Newstalk for a period.
In 2008, she entered the Myspace/MTV Pick Me competition and beat off 3,000 other hopefuls to win a coveted MTV news role on the international music channel.
Reporting from music and film festivals around the world, she has interviewed some of the biggest names in showbusiness including Robert Downey Jr, Justin Bieber, George Clooney and Coldplay.
In the 12 months to the end of March the accumulated profits at Whitmore's firm increased by £102,091 or 108pc from £94,468 to £196,559.
At the end of March 2012, the company's accumulated profits stood at £20,648 with cash of £26,982 showing that her profits have increased almost tenfold in the space of two years, with her cash pile increasing eight fold during the same period.
Whitmore was able to add to her company's coffers last year from her work as an ambassador of classic beauty brand Pond's while also in demand to MC shows and events including this year's IFTAs.
