Traffic delays are expected across Dublin city as an overturned truck has caused the closure of the south and north bores of the Port Tunnel.

Both lanes in the tunnel were closed early this morning after the incident shortly before 9am.

Garda told Independent.ie that emergency services were at the scene and that a traffic cordon is in place.

"The north and south bore of the Dublin Port Tunnel are currently closed due to a road traffic collision.

"They are expected to be closed for up to two hours."

No injuries have been reported.

Emergency services are using the south bore of the tunnel to gain access to north bore.

AARoadwatch are warning drivers to expect delays as HGV ban in the city centre has been lifted temporarily.

"Motorists should expect increased traffic in city centre.

"We're asking those on the road to take this in to account and be mindful of pedestrians and cyclists.

The Dublin Fire Bridge tweeted that they are attending a “minor incident in the north bore of the Port Tunnel” and a spokesperson for Transport Infrastructure Ireland said they were awaiting the arrival of removal vehicles to clear the scene.
