Piper's hooker accent inspired by Nadine

television

Actress Billie Piper has said she took inspiration for her Irish prostitute role in Penny Dreadful from Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle's accent.

Piper (32, right) plays Brona Croft, a prostitute who has died and Victor Frankenstein is trying to bring back to life, in the Sky Atlantic Victorian drama.

She was a guest last night on Alan Carr: Chatty Man, and he asked about her accent in the series, saying: "You've come back posh because before you were a bit like Nadine Coyle?"

"I know," said Piper. "I watched a lot of YouTube clips of Nadine (inset). It wasn't supposed to be Derry, it was Belfast, and I just sort of got addicted to her and her funky accent."

Piper, who also played a prostitute in Belle De Jour, added that she does not expect to keep being typecast in the role.
