Paul O'Connell's a winner off the field as firm rakes in €1.2m profit
PROFITS at Ireland rugby captain Paul O’Connell’s firm were higher than the big man himself.
In a bumper year for the towering Limerick man, profits leaped to over €1.23m last year. Accumulated profits at his Nellcon Ltd firm jumped by €143,627 to €1.23m to the end of April.
Last Sunday, the Ireland forward led Ireland to a famous victory over England and he now has even more reason to smile after the cash pile at his firm jumped by €155,922 to €1.207m last year.
O’Connell (35) will win his 100th cap against Wales on March 14 next. As the Ireland stalwart eyes retirement the end of his playing career will be cushioned by that balance, and also by a Government tax scheme that allows key sports people to claim back 40pc of the tax they paid over a 10-year period.
