Passenger allegedly robbed taxi driver

A PASSENGER allegedly threatened a taxi driver and demanded he hand over his cash after he hailed him down.

Daniel Fahey (29) allegedly made off with a Garmin sat nav after the driver failed to hand over any money.

The accused, of Fortlawn Drive, Blanchardstown, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with robbery at Hillbrook Woods, Blanchardstown, last April 19.

Outlining the allegation for jurisdiction purposes, Sgt Maria Callaghan alleged that Mr Fahey threatened the taxi driver, demanding he give him money, but none was handed over.

The sergeant claimed Mr Fahey then left the taxi with a Garmin sat nav, valued at €150.

Judge David McHugh said he would accept jurisdiction of the matter, meaning it will remain in the District Court.
