Pal of slain Marlo held over cartel guns seizure
A former associate of slain gang boss Martin 'Marlo' Hyland remained in custody last night, being questioned by gardai in relation to a massive firearms seizure linked to the Kinahan cartel.
The man, who is in his 30s, was arrested in Cabra and brought to Finglas Garda Station. Sources have revealed that detectives believe there is "very good evidence" against the criminal, who first became known to gardai for his involvement in Hyland's drugs mob.
'Marlo' was shot dead by his own gang 10 years ago this week and was considered one of the country's biggest drugs traffickers.
The man arrested yesterday was a "junior member" of that gang a decade ago but is now suspected of being a "runner".
Officers from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau found the weapons in a vehicle at Quarry Road, Cabra, on November 5.
The arsenal included two MP-9 machine guns, two silencers and three loaded Smith & Wesson handguns, as well as ammunition.
It later emerged the weapons were to be used on a business partner of Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch.
