Barack Obama and his young family toured Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Canyon.
President Barack Obama spent the weekend with his family visiting the great outdoors in America's west.
They visited the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park.
Mr Obama and his family took in the breathtaking view from the Grand Canyon's Hopi Point overlooking a 5,000-foot drop to the Colorado River.
"Last time I was here was when I was 11 years old," he said. Asked if it looked the same, he said: "It does!"
A day earlier at Yellowstone, the first family watched the eruption of the world's most famous geyser, Old Faithful.
"Oh, that's pretty good. Cool! Look at that. That's a geyser there!" Mr Obama said.
His entourage also visited the steamy Black Sand Basin, a brilliant-hued hydrothermal spot in the park.
Mr Obama shed his typical dark suit for casual wear -- hiking runners and a light jacket for Yellowstone, and a golf shirt for the Grand Canyon.
