No fear for models after Cannonball mishap

A dramatic engine failure at last year's Cannonball Run has not put these Irish models off getting behind the wheel at this year's event.

Nadia Forde was driving a black Maserati with Kerri Nicole Blanc, Nicola Hughes and Karena Graham in the back last year when the engine blew up.

Model Kerri Nicole (24) told the Herald it was a frightening experience during the annual fundraising event.

"It was actually quite scary, the engine blew and there was all this dark smoke everywhere," she said. "We got quite a fright and we all jumped straight out of the car.

Ridiculous

"We probably looked ridiculous running away from the car. Of course, it would be the car that the models were travelling in that would break down."

But the following day, organisers of the charity Cannonball Run organised a Porsche to drive them back to Dublin.

"That car is usually only meant for two people and there were four of us, plus all our cases," Kerri Nicole said.

"We were pretty squashed on the way back up and we had to sit with our cases in our laps."

The models are still excited for this year's event, saying they'd love to all drive the route together in a
Lamborghini.

Nadia Forde (25) hasn't had the best of luck with cars having recently been involved in a crash in the UK. The model was taken to hospital as a precaution afterwards and treated for minor injuries.
