Nightclub row led to headbutt

A DRUNKEN teenager headbutted another reveller in the face after an argument in a nightclub turned violent, a court heard.

Stephen O'Brien (19) left the victim with a swollen lip and swelling to the forehead in the attack which took place in a club car park in Stillorgan.

The defendant had to be restrained by gardai, and he lunged a second time for the victim, Dwayne Staunton, while he was being held by officers.

A judge ordered O'Brien to donate €400 to the Children's Sunshine Home Hospice Fund and said he would strike out the charges.

The defendant, of Rollins Villas in Sallynoggin, admitted before Dun Laoghaire District Court to assaulting Mr Staunton as well as threatening and abusive behaviour and failing to follow the directions of gardai.

The incident took place outside Burn Beach nightclub in Stillorgan last December .

The court heard O'Brien has no previous convictions.

The judge told him that if he behaves badly when he drinks, he should give it up.
