The frontman of US metal band Lamb of God has claimed he was attacked by a gang of teenagers while taking night-time photographs in Dublin.

Singer Randy Blythe said the city's children should be "neutered and spayed" after he was hit across the head yards from his hotel in the docklands by a group of five or six people wearing hoodies and tracksuits.

Thousands

The singer was taking photos of the Samuel Beckett bridge over the Liffey at about midnight on Sunday when he was set upon.

In Dublin as support for metal band Megadeth, Blythe's Lamb Of God were on stage on Monday night playing to thousands of metal fans in the 3Arena.

He described the group of 16 to 18-year-olds approaching, saying one came in from his left and another hit him on the head from behind with what he believes was a stick.

A passing taxi driver intervened, with Blythe claiming the cab was driven at the gang.

"Dublin, I still love you, I'm NOT afraid to come here, it's a lovely city, but please neuter and spay your feral children," he wrote on social media.
