Model and blogger Holly Carpenter became the first to exit Celebrity MasterChef after her dinner turned into a disaster for the judges.

The 25-year-old was given the chop after her baked cod with herb crust failed to impress Daniel Clifford and Robin Gill.

Signature

"We had to do a signature dish first. The theme was something from your childhood and I made a Malteser cheesecake and it was fine," Holly said.

"Then we had to make one of Daniel's signature dishes which was really difficult to copy.

"They tasted my sauce and started coughing and had to get a producer to run in and give them water.

"They couldn't breathe because my sauce was pure vinegar. I didn't put in enough butter or anything," Holly said.

Daniel explained that her chives had turned a totally different colour because she had made a mistake with the sauce.

"That's pure vinegar. Has that been reduced?" he asked.

"I'm really not trying to upset you, but if you look at everyone else's plates, their chives have stayed green because the acid in the vinegar has turned your chives that colour."

The Herald columnist and presenter of the What Would Holly Do? series on the RTE player broke down after finding out she was the first contestant to go.

She and the other contestants had gone through gruelling sessions of intensive filming.

Filmed

"We filmed for two days for a total of 12 hours each," Holly said.

"By the time I was kicked off the show, I was so exhausted I actually just cried. Even if I had gone through, I probably would have cried.

"It was just the emotions of being exhausted and I was having the craic with everyone on it so I didn't want to go."

Holly, who's from Raheny, faced off against Niamh Kavanagh, Colm O'Gorman, Evelyn Cusack and Oisin McConville for the first episode.

Although he is new to cooking, footballer Oisin was the star of the show and was praised by the judges.

The second episode will see the next five contestants - Nadia Forde, Simon Delaney, Sonia O'Sullivan, Mundy and Samantha Mumba - go head to head in the kitchen.

Celebrity MasterChef airs on Mondays on TV3 at 10pm
