Mum took package from a post box
A MOTHER of two who broke open a post box and took a package from it "wasn't in a proper state of mind" at the time.
Lyndsey Burnett (31) was on heavy medication as she is a diabetic and suffers from depression.
Judge David McHugh applied the probation act, saying he accepted Burnett was on heavy medication.
The defendant admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to damaging a post box and taking post worth €10 at Charlestown Shopping Centre in Finglas on July 29.
Sergeant Maria Callaghan said Burnett, of Charlestown Place in Finglas, was seen on CCTV getting off a lift at an apartment block and looking through the mail boxes.
She forced open the door to one of them and took a package from it. The damage to the mail box was €50.
Defence solicitor Simon Fleming said mother-of-two Burnett wasn't "in a proper state of mind".
He said Burnett, who has no previous convictions, recently came out of a relationship and "everything got on top of her". Burnett was also on heavy medication as she suffers from diabetes and depression.
