Most of us plan to get more active this year study says
More of us are getting active and exercising than ever before.
Sixty percent of Irish people say they have a plan to get fit before the summer.
The recent good weather has seen joggers, runners and walkers of all ages taking to the footpaths and parks in a bid to keep healthy.
A new survey of almost 330 people aged between 18 and 55 found that the majority of us are at least thinking about getting active, with two thirds going for a run two or three times each week.
A fifth of people questioned are still letting the side down, though, admitting they haven't made any plans to run more this year.
There also seems to be something about this time of year that makes us want to get active, as 97pc of people admitted brighter mornings and evenings are what motivates them to get out and run.
The majority of those surveyed said they would rather go for a run in the evening.
More than 80pc said they plan to take part in an organised run this year, with 40pc of them saying they will take on at least 10km.
Carried out by Lifestyle Sports, the survey was conducted as a measure to encourage more people to wear the correct gear while out running or jogging.
It also found that 44pc of women do not wear a sports bra, a decision that could impair their ability to perform.
