Morrissey's stage rant at 'Aer Fungus'
Friday November 27 2009
SINGER Morrissey launched a rant at Aer Lingus in front of thousands of Irish fans.
He vowed never to fly with the airline again and dubbed it "Aer Fungus".
The former Smiths star had flown from Munich to Dublin for the Irish leg of his tour.
And he left fans at the National Stadium in Dublin in no doubt about how unhappy he was with the service, though he did not go into details. "I'll never fly with Aer Fungus again," he said.
He vowed he would walk, sail, or paddle to Ireland in the future -- but would never again use Aer Lingus.
A spokeswoman for Aer Lingus refused to comment on Morrissey's onstage rant in front of up to 2,000 people.
She said: "We do not disclose details of any dealings with our customers."
It is not the first time the singer has hit out publicly against the airline.
In Killarney in 2006, Morrissey blamed a cold on a bad experience on an Aer Lingus flight.
This year's tour has been equally grumpy for the Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now singer. He collapsed on stage in Swindon and walked out at Liverpool after a bottle was thrown at him.
Meat has been banned at every venue, including Dublin, because Morrissey is a staunch vegetarian. He had a fan thrown out of his Hamburg gig for interrupting his comments on 'hamburgers'.
