Model Emma Waldron swaps Big Apple for a party in Kildare for her grandparents 60th wedding anniversary
Model Emma Waldron is leaving behind the bright lights of Manhattan for the back roads of Kildare.
The Dubliner, who has been living in the city that never sleeps, will return home for a week to celebrate her grandparents’ 60th diamond wedding anniversary.
“I’ve had the most amazing summer in New York – the weather here is incredible,” she told the Diary.
“I’m just home from a trip to Montauk in the Hamptons with my friends where we had such a great time.
“We spent our days on the beach and I tried paddle boarding for the first time as well.
“I’ll be home next week for my grandparents’ party, so I’m really looking to that,” she added.
The former Miss Ireland has been making a name for herself on the NY modelling scene.
Kildare native Emma recently did a catalogue shoot with US brand Jordache Jeans (Sarah Jessica Parker has just been named one of their ambassadors).
Of course, it can’t be all work and no play in the Big Apple and Emma has been to quite a few glamorous parties.
She recently attended a charity event where she rubbed shoulders with America’s Next Top Model creator Tyra Banks (inset) and Rosario Dawson. Treat for Dude fans
Mark it Zero!
Movie buffs are in for a treat this evening – cult film The Big Lebowski is being screened at Happenings Open Air Cinema in Merrion Square.
The hilarious cult hit from the Coen Brothers sees The Dude (Jeff Bridges) and his friends, Donny (Steve Buscemi) and Walter (John Goodman), get dragged into lots of shady dealings with hilarious consequences.
If you’re feeling peckish after work, Irish Village Markets will be serving up lots of yummy street food to keep you going.
Tickets for the film are €5 and the film will start at 7.30pm.
Cheers for craft beers
Craft beer has taken over Dublin’s pubs – and what better way to find out the difference between IPA and Pilsner than by heading to the Irish Craft Beer and Cider Festival at the RDS.
The festival runs from August 27 to 29.
