Missing jetski couple are found on dry land
Friday June 26 2009
Two jetskiers were found safe and well after a major search operation on the West coast.
The man and woman went missing near Kid Island, Co Mayo, last night just before 10pm. Initial reports said they may have been trying to get a closer look at the Solitaire, the world's largest pipelaying ship, which was due to start laying Shell's offshore gas pipeline today at Broadhaven Bay.
A spokesman for Malin Head Coastguard said that the incident ended at 11.29pm when the jetskiers were found on the mainland, east of Kid Island.
The alert was raised by the Garda and two fast rescue boats from the Navy ship, the LE Emer, the Ballyglass lifeboat and numerous ships in the area took part in the search.
Both jetskiers were well and unharmed, the spokesman said.
