You'd be a twit to miss it.

McDonald's Restaurants of Ireland yesterday officially launched its Happy Readers campaign, which will see the company give away 700,000 Roald Dahl books with Happy Meals bought over the next six weeks.

All of the 88 McDonald's restaurants around Ireland will participate in the Happy Readers initiative, which runs from Wednesday, September 23 until November 3.

Children's TV presenter Emma O'Driscoll was on hand with Anna-Rose Pitt (6) and Charles Last (6) to help launch the campaign, which she is supporting by taking part in a series of regional book-reading events at McDonald's restaurants.

"I'm a bit of a bookworm myself and when I was growing up I was a huge fan of Roald Dahl, so it's very exciting to be in a position to share these much-loved stories and characters with the next generation," Ms O'Driscoll said.

McDonald's Ireland MD Adrian Crean said the aim of the initiative is to make reading more affordable and fun for families.
