Man to face US porn charges

An IRISHMAN who is wanted in the US and was described as "the largest facilitator of child porn in the world" has failed in an application to seek judicial review of the DPP's decision not to prosecute him here.

Eric Eoin Marques (28), who is alleged to be the owner and administrator of an anonymous hosting site known as Freedom Hosting, is wanted by US authorities to face charges relating to conspiring to distribute and advertise child pornography, and advertising and distributing child pornography.

Marques, with an address at Mountjoy Square, has been in custody since his arrest in August last year.

Carbon levels reach new high

Carbon dioxide is responsible for four-fifths of the increase in warming by greenhouse gases, with concentrations in the atmosphere averaging 396 parts per million (ppm) in 2013, the World Meteorological Organisation says.

Last year levels increased by 2.9 ppm - the largest annual increase seen in the period 1984 to 2013.

At current rates, concentrations will pass the symbolic 400 ppm in 2015 or 2016, although that level has already been reached over short periods as levels fluctuate seasonally.

Measles feels 'worse than flu'

People who fall ill with measles feel worse than when they suffer from flu or chicken pox, a study into the virus has found.

Typical symptoms include having red eyes and sensitivity to light, a high temperature, and greyish white spots in the mouth and throat.

Researchers with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) found that, on average, the measles lasted for nearly two weeks.

Pharrell is three times Happier

Pharrell Williams has been named king of the downloads with three tracks in the top 10 most downloaded songs, including the top spot for Happy.

The star also takes second and sixth place with his collaborations with Robin Thicke and Daft Punk respectively, according to the UK's Official Charts Company.
