Man raped his own daughter

A 40-year-old man will be sentenced next month after he admitted raping and sexually assaulting his daughter over nine years ago.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to seven counts of sexually assaulting the girl on dates unknown between January 1, 2003 and March 21, 2006.

He also pleaded guilty to four counts of raping her on dates between October 1, 2006 and May 25, 2007.

Mr Justice Paul Carney remanded the man on continuing bail and adjourned sentencing for the preparation of a victim impact report.

999 call over TV soap fight

Police in England have urged the public not to abuse the 999 number after revealing a caller rang to report a fight between two TV soap characters.

The man called police using the emergency number last month claiming he wanted to report the brawl between Stacey Slater and Archie Mitchell -- from the 2009 Christmas episode of EastEnders.

Police have released details of the call to highlight some of the frivolous reasons people ring 999.

The producers of Desperate Housewives say the series' finale will leave a few loose ends hanging, but cautioned fans against awaiting a reunion movie.

Creator Marc Cherry says eight seasons have given the series time to "plumb the depths" of the characters played by Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman and others.

Referring to Sex And The City 2, which was set in the Middle East and received negative reviews, Cherry quipped: "I'm just never sending these gals to Dubai."
