Man fights for life after single blow to head

A 46-year-old man is fighting for his life after suffering horrific head injuries when he was assaulted near his Dublin home.

He was found unconscious with serious injuries outside a property on Tyrconnell Road shortly before 9.30pm.

The victim was rushed to St James's Hospital where he is believed to be in a critical condition with bleeding on his brain.

A source revealed that the man suffered his injuries after falling to the ground when he was punched with one blow to the head. No arrests have yet been made in the investigation.

RANDOM

"This appears to be a random incident – there may have been an argument between the attacker and the victim that lasted just a matter of seconds before the assault occurred," a source told the Herald.

The case is being investigated by gardai from Kilmainham Station who are appealing for witnesses or indeed the perpetrator to come forward.
