A MAN drove into the side of another car after he failed to see it stop and indicate, a court heard.

Artjoms Aleksejevs (38) said he "lost concentration" and did not realise the car in front had stopped.

Judge Bridget Reilly fined Aleksejevs €300 and disqualified him from driving for three months.

Gda Stephen Kinneavy said CCTV footage showed Aleksejevs following another vehicle into Belgard Retail Park.

Aleksejevs was 10 yards behind the other car, a Volkswagen Golf, when it stopped and indicated to turn left.

The garda said Aleksejevs tried to cut inside the car and drove into its side.

He said Aleksejevs was fully insured and had no previous convictions.

Defence solicitor Eddie O'Connor said Aleksejevs briefly "lost concentration" and "just didn't see the flashing indicator".

He said the defendant, from Latvia, has lived in Ireland for seven years.

He said Aleksejevs works as a labourer but is currently out of work due to a leg injury.

The defendant, of West Park, Tallaght, admitted before Tallaght District Court to careless driving.

The incident happened at Belgard Retail Park, Tallaght, shortly before 7am last November 28.
