Man caught with pliers was in a manic state
A MENTAL-health worker caught with a pair of pliers at a bike stand was in a state of "manic euphoria", a court heard.
Paul Walsh (49) has had bipolar disorder for 20 years and works with others who suffer psychiatric problems.
Judge David McHugh applied the Probation Act.
The defendant, of Castlecurragh Vale, Mulhuddart, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to possession of a pair of pliers.
Sgt Maria Callaghan said gardai came across Walsh with pliers at a bike stand at Blanchardstown Shopping Centre last May 15.
Defence lawyer Jennifer Jackson said Walsh was manic as there was a documentary being filmed at work and there was "too much excitement".
