Man (30) dies while on stag do in Portugal
Police are investigating the sudden death of an Irishman while on a stag do in Portugal.
He has been named locally as Daryl Dargan, from the Lake- glen area of Portlaoise, Co Laois.
Mr Dargan (30) was found dead by friends who were staying with him in the Alto do Moinho apartments in the popular resort of Albufeira.
Friends have set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds to repatriate his body.
Local councillor Noel Tuohy said the community is extremely saddened by the news.
"You just have to feel sorry for the family during these difficult times. They are decent people so it's not easy for them," he said.
"The whole community feels for them at this very sad time. I just want to offer my condolences to his family and friends."
Those who knew Mr Dargan have described him as a "lovely person" who was "great fun to be around".
The Policia Judiciaria confirmed they were investigating. An autopsy was expected to take place in nearby Faro.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said it is aware of the case and stands ready to provide consular assistance.
