Residents in Malahide, Portmarnock and Kinsealy say they are benefiting from a text-alert system which is aimed at reducing crime.

Burglaries in the area have reduced considerably after a spate of robberies from garden sheds in homes around Malahide village in December and January.

An ATM machine was also "skimmed" in the village at Christmas but crime has decreased after more residents signed up to the text system in February and March.
