Luke Skywalker makes Star Wars return on Skellig islands
TWO of Star Wars' most iconic roles will be reprised on Skellig Michael today as cast members arrive for the second day of filming.
Mark Hamill - or Luke Skywalker as he will always be to millions - and Carrie Fisher, aka Princess Leia Organa, will be filming on the island for Star Wars: Episode VII.
A production clipboard, seen by the Herald on the pier in Portmagee yesterday confirmed that Hamill's three children, Chelsea, Nathan and Griffin, were part of a group that had flown into Kerry Airport by private jet.
They are accompanying their father who is filming on location at the UNESCO World Heritage site.
The small Kerry fishing village was a hive of activity for the first day of filming but security was tight.
Director JJ Abrams was also on the island. A registration board containing the name tags of all personnel showed that his name tag was missing, indicating he was on the island.
Filming continues today.
