Kennedy family photos go under the hammer at US auction
A series of holiday snaps of former US president John F Kennedy and his family are due to go under the hammer in Los Angeles tomorrow.
The 79 photographs include images of Kennedy and his young family soaking up the sun on the beach, celebrating birthdays, and enjoying Christmas holidays together in the US.
In one image, First Lady Jackie Kennedy leads her daughter Caroline around an equestrian centre.
In another snapshot, Jackie Kennedy reclines in a colourful summer dress outside the White House with her daughter by her side.
The photos belonged to the Kennedy's nanny Maud Shaw.
Shaw worked with the family from 1957 and helped look after Caroline and John when their father was assassinated in 1963. Shaw returned to her family home of London after retiring from her positon in 1965.
The following year, the childminder published a book chronicling her time working in the White House, titled White House Nanny: My Years with Caroline and John Kennedy, Jr.
The photos will go on sale alongside a custom-made cream maternity dress which Jackie Kennedy wore when she was pregnant with John Kennedy Jr in 1960.
In the final chapter of her memoirs, Shaw says Jackie Kennedy gifted her the dress and other mementos when visiting her in London.
The items will be auctioned by Nate D. Sanders Auctions tomorrow with bidding starting at $10,000.
The dress and photographs were previously auctioned by Whytes Auction House in Dublin last month.
Following Jackie Kennedy Onassis's death in 1994, Sotheby's in New York auctioned her possessions, for over $34m.
