IT'S all hands on deck for Keith Duffy over the next few months as he's filming a kids' TV show, doing panto - and cooking up a storm as a celebrity chef on a cruise ship.

The 41-year-old Dubliner will be one of 10 celebrities, including Blur's Alex James and former EastEnders' star John Partridge (Christian), who will take to the waves to cook up culinary delights as part of UKTV's new series Battlechefs.

"We'll be cooking for the captain. Marco Pierre White gives you a dig out and after a week the captain chooses what celebrity cooks the best food," he told the Diary.

"It's just a bit of craic to be honest. I enjoy cooking. I do enjoy being in the kitchen, cooking, so I will be looking at different dishes that are local to the area that we are travelling to," he said.

Keith said he uses a Ready Steady Cook approach to cooking.

"I'm not one to look at a cookbook and learn recipes," he said. "I'd rather just use what's in the cupboards and in the fridge and throw a few bits and pieces together."

Keith is now shooting a children's BBC drama called Roy.

"It's a 12-week shoot for about 15 or 16 episodes," he said. "I do Battlechefs in the middle of that out in the Mediterranean, then I'm doing Sleeping Beauty pantomime in Limerick for Christmas and then I go into rehearsals for Big Maggie in Dublin's Gaiety theatre for six weeks until March. So I'm very busy, and Boyzone will be doing a Middle Eastern tour for around Paddy's Day.
