'It's a blessing' - Janet's joy as she's due her first child at the age of 50
Superstar Janet Jackson is due her first child at the ripe old age of 50.
The American singer was rumoured to be expecting after postponing the second leg of her world tour earlier this year, telling her fans she was planning for a family.
Fresh from the revelation that former Spice Girl Geri Horner is expecting a baby with her husband Christian at the age of 44, Janet has now confirmed her own bit of happy news, saying: "We thank God for our blessing."
Jackson also showed off her baby bump in a picture for the first time in a photoshoot for American magazine People.
Wearing a tight white dress and smiling proudly for the camera, she was sporting a visible baby bump in the picture and was clearly delighted at her impending arrival.
Last April, the star announced that she was delaying her Unbreakable tour because she and her husband, businessman Wissam Al Mana, were "planning our family".
The singer posted a video on her Twitter account to announce the news of her decision to postpone it.
She did not say that she was pregnant, but said there had been a "sudden change" to the second leg of her tour - which started in August 2015.
At the time, she appealed to her fans for understanding and said it was down to a medical reason.
"Please, if you could try and understand that it's important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor's orders. But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can."
The sister of the late Michael Jackson married Al Mana in 2012 and celebrated her milestone 50th birthday last May.
The iconic singer's last single, released earlier this year, was the aptly named Dammn Baby.
"She is super excited about her pregnancy and is doing extremely well," said a close source.
"She actually feels very good about everything."
She was recently spotted in London shopping for baby essentials.
