Irish scouts in Japan get app link with home
Families of Irish scouts travelling to a jamboree in Japan will be able to stay in touch with them with a newly developed app.
The innovative Irish-developed app will give relatives and friends complete access to the scouts' activities.
Tiqbiz was developed and tested by Scouting Ireland in recent months and is proving to be a multi-purpose mobile communication platform.
Some 300 Irish scouts will join 35,000 others from around the globe at the 2015 World Scout Jamboree in Yamaguchi later this month.
The scouts, aged from 14 to 17 years, will be away for 12 days.
Tiqbiz will allow specially- designated scouting media officers from each troop to post alerts and send photos, videos and daily reports.
The reports will be received instantly by parents and scouts back home, and there will be a designated area for the public.
The app will also contain a wealth of event information and will host the Jamboree's website, Facebook and Twitter feeds.
