Imelda May thrills author Roddy Doyle with 'favourite' song
Rockabilly star Imelda May said she's a "huge fan" of author Roddy Doyle and she was delighted to be a part of the Barrytown Meets Musictown event last night.
"I'm performing a song that Roddy said was one of his favourites growing up so we're doing Walking in the Rain," she told the Herald.
"It's a great thing to do, he's a terrific writer and he's a credit to Dublin.
"His writing is very honest and I always related to it growing up because it's like reading my childhood," she added.
The performance was a mixture of readings and music that inspired Roddy when he was writing the Barrytown trilogy which is currently the Dublin: One City One Book Choice 2015.
Glen Hansard, Aidan Gillen, Angeline Ball and Colm Meaney were just some of those involved.
