I'm not a Groomzilla, Louise is in charge of big day - Paul
EX-Kerry footballer and style guru Paul Galvin has insisted he won't be high-maintenance when it comes to his wedding.
The former GAA All-Star (34) is engaged to Today FM presenter Louise Duffy (30), but says he's not panicking about walking down the aisle.
"I'm excited, but I'm not a Groomzilla. I'll leave all that up to Louise," he told the Herald.
"I'm very relaxed about it - when it happens it happens. We haven't set a date."
Despite his style credentials, Paul says he won't be designing his own wedding gear and isn't fussy about venues.
"I wouldn't like to design my own wedding suit. I'll get married wherever Louise wants," he said.
Although he's rarely out of the public eye, Paul has no interest in pursuing a career in TV.
"I've always had lots of offers, but I'm not that interested. I did a little bit but nothing big," he said.
"I'm actually doing a little thing for TG4 which is coming up this month. It's called The Year I Was Born. It's a documentary and we go through the national library and look at the papers on the day I was born."
Paul was speaking after being nominated for the RTE Radio 1's John Murray Show Listeners' Choice Award at the Bord Gais Energy Irish Book Awards for his autobiography, Paul Galvin: In My Own Words.
"I enjoyed writing it," he said. "I did it quite quickly. I wouldn't say it was therapeutic, but it needed to be done and I'm glad I've done it. I think I've done a good job.
"To be honest, I had it written in my head for a long time, it was just a case of sitting down and typing it up. From that point of view it was pretty easy.
"Louise had a good read of it - she was my editor for while. She made plenty of recommendations, all right."
Paul admitted there's nothing too juicy between the covers.
"No, there's nothing mad," he said.
"I think I could have done three books, but I think the book has a lot of depth and integrity and adds context to my life."
