I'm embarrassed by my home - Bannon
HE might be famous for designing state-of-the art houses, but architect Dermot Bannon has confessed that his own home "needs a bit of work".
The Room to Improve star admitted that his own home is "very modest" compared to the stunning renovations featured on the RTE show.
The presenter also revealed he's not a DIY fan in his family home.
"My house is very modest - a cobbler's shoes are always the worst," he said yesterday.
"There's pictures behind the couches that haven't been hung up yet and everything - when you do it everyday for a living, the last thing you want to do is to go home and start doing DIY and fixing things."
The Malahide native said "it's embarrassing" when people suggest using his house as the location for photoshoots, as it's not as impressive as his projects on Room to Improve.
The TV star even admits to getting stuck in his own bathroom for two hours due to a faulty doorknob.
He added that his Drumcondra home hasn't enough space for his family of five and needs it's own Room to Improve makeover - but Dermot can't decide whether to renovate or move.
"We've three kids in very small accommodation upstairs so we do need an extra bedroom," he told Sean Moncrieff on Newstalk.
