Katherine Lynch said farewell to the dancefloor last night as she became the latest celebrity to leave Dancing With The Stars.

The comedian landed in the bottom two places alongside Hometown's Dayl Cronin and was ultimately sent home by the judges.

Katherine admitted she knew she would be leaving when she had to dance-off against the pop singer.

"I went, 'Can I concede please?' because Dayl is a professional dancer," she told the Herald. "He is such a great guy."

Ovation

The Leitrim woman kicked off the show with a jive to Tina Turner's Proud Mary.

She received a standing ovation from the audience and a score of 19 from the judges.

Katherine said the show had "started to feel like work" and was not too upset to go home.

"I'm going to miss the fun. Today with the judges, it really turned into a competition," she said.

"It did. It went from that joyful bubble that I was in to a competition and I said today, 'I'm happy to go home'. When anything that is joyful starts feeling like work, it's not worth doing any more, even though I know I signed up for a competition," she said.

The former Wagon's Den presenter is backing Red Rock actress Denise McCormack to take home the glitterball trophy.

"I want to Denise to win because she's my friend on the show. We have really bonded," she said.

Aoibhin Garrihy received the top score of the night with 29 points for her salsa.

Aidan O'Mahony received 28 points for his Charleston.
