'I pay my own way on dates, I'm not cheap', says Laura
TV host Laura Whitmore has revealed she wants a man to reach for the bill on a date ... but will always pay her share.
The Bray native has said her dating etiquette is pinned on 'double Dutch' principles.
"I think on the first date, always go Dutch," she said.
She has taken the lead from her mum, it seems.
"My mother is quite an independent lady… she's always said if you let them pay, they'll expect a second date or they'll expect something else," she said.
"But I'm like the opposite. I've gone too far, I'll end up paying for everything," she added.
The TV star admitted she is keen to pay her share because she doesn't want to think her dates to think she is "tight".
She joked that she's "an independent lady who pays her own bills" but agreed that she liked a man to offer to pay the bill after taking her out on the town.
But not everyone in her circle feels the same, it appears. Laura told her colleagues in Glamour magazine for their podcast that a "girlfriend of mine was saying she was using Tinder for nights out because she couldn't afford dinner".
Meanwhile, with her Strictly debut under her belt, Laura (31) also revealed that she had to be given a pep talk before taking to the floor.
Speculation about whether or not she will strike up an off-screen romance with her dance partner Giovanni Pernice has been rife since the show aired. Laura has dismissed the idea but said she can understand how romance blossoms on the show, which demands long hours of its competitors.
Ex-Strictly pro, Gleb Savchenko, is the latest to weigh in and has said he would bet £100 that the pair will hook up during the show.
