Hozier's meteoric rise is continuing as the Wicklow native has debuted in the US Billboard 200 Chart at No 2 following his Saturday Night Live performance.

The singer-songwriter's self-titled debut album sold almost 58,000 copies in its first week, making it the second-highest chart entry for a new artist in 2014.

It's the second notable achievement this week for 24-year-old Andrew Hozier Byrne, who has also been nominated for a European award given to artists who "break borders" with their work.

ceremony The European Border Breakers Awards are given to 10 artists from around Europe and are designed to reward artists whose work breaks the language barrier and achieves success across Europe.

Jools Holland will host the awards ceremony which will take place in the Netherlands in January.
