Harry still casts spell on City of the Tribes

WITCHES and wizards are enjoying a spellbinding time this weekend at the country's only Harry Potter convention.

Hundreds of Potter fans will immerse themselves in the Wizarding World over the three day event, which will see NUI Galway transformed into Hogwarts.

Up to 500 magic lovers are taking part in the convention in the City of the Tribes, which includes everything from a sorting ceremony to a Yule ball and Quidditch matches.

Guests will be sorted into their Hogwarts House and attend classes in Potions, Transfiguration and Defence Against the Dark Arts.

Sunday will see Quidditch matches with the Galway Grindylows, Ireland's first Muggle University team.

One of the organisers of the event, Isabella De Luca, said people were travelling from the UK and all over Ireland for the event.

"The Quidditch match is always great fun. It's a mix between dodge ball and tag rugby, but you must keep the broom between your legs at all times," she added.
