The case of a 15-year-old schoolboy charged with possessing a semi-automatic hand gun, ammunition and drugs, has been adjourned to allow him to complete psychological assessments in custody.

The boy, who cannot be identified because he is a minor, had been charged at the Children's Court last month with possession of a 9mm calibre Beretta Parabellum semi-automatic pistol and five rounds of ammunition at his north Dublin home, on January 29 last. He also faces charges for possessing cannabis and heroin for sale or supply on the same date.

Teen in court over catapult

A 16-year-boy has ended up in court for firing stones with a catapult from a high-rise building.

Judge Bryan Smyth heard at the Dublin Children's Court that the boy had been on the rooftop of an apartment building "launching missiles from the catapult to the ground".

Garda Shane Noone said no one was injured from the flying stones.

The boy, who was accompanied to his case by his mother, was remanded on bail pending a hearing for trespassing and possessing the catapult as a weapon, at a south Dublin apartment complex, on August 4 last.
