Golden Kathryn is RTE's bright new radio star
RTE star Kathryn Thomas is take over the reins of Radio 1's John Murray show from Miriam O'Callaghan.
Miriam, who has been filling in for Murray in recent weeks, is heading off on holidays.
Kathryn (left) says that she is more than happy to step in for the next few weeks. "I love the John Murray slot," she said. "I'm still picking up my flying hours on radio; I've got my TV hours, but in radio I still have a long way to go."
Kathryn was looking relaxed and sun-kissed as she helped judge the Best Dressed woman competition at a sodden Galway Races yesterday.
And for good reason – the glamorous presenter has just returned from a three-week trip to LA.
The Voice of Ireland host said she was in the US to see her sister Deirdre, who works for Google.
"I was there for a few weeks' holiday," Kathryn said. "My sister has just moved over, so I spent most of the week building Ikea flat-pack furniture and spending weekends on the beach with her, so I loved it. It was enjoyment, relaxing and taking it easy."
Despite fronting two of RTE's top shows – The Voice Of Ireland and Operation Transformation – TV's golden girl said that her recently departed colleague Pat Kenny's shoes would be too big for her to fill.
