Garda probe as bomb explodes at house

Gardai are investigating whether a dangerous Traveller gang are responsible for an incident in which a suspected pipe bomb exploded after being thrown at a house this morning.

The incident unfolded in Rockfield Manor, Dundalk, Co Louth, at around 2.15am. It is understood that six adults were in the house at the time.

The explosion happened in the front garden of the property. A number of people were evacuated from their homes until the army bomb disposal team declared the area safe.

There were no injuries and no arrests in the case so far. Gardai are appealing for witnesses.
