Pilots end strike after 14 days

Air France's leading pilots' union has ended a 14-day strike that crippled air traffic.

The SNPL union confirmed that the action is now over after a walkout grounded more than half of the airline's flights and stranded passengers.

The strike's end comes after Air France offered to scrap a central part of a plan to shift most of its European operations to low-cost carrier Transavia.

Pilots saw it as a way to outsource their jobs to countries with lower taxes and labour costs.

Train sprayers held after raids

Spanish police say they have arrested 10 of the country's most active graffiti painters on suspicion of being responsible for over €600,000 worth of damage to subway rolling stock.

The well-organised group would stop trains by pulling security levers at pre-arranged spots away from security cameras where others would be waiting to help paint up to 50 square meters in around five minutes.

Attack threats on Pride march

Thousands of anti-riot police officers were deployed in downtown Belgrade in an effort to protect a gay pride march that faced threats of attacks from extremists.

Water cannons, armoured vehicles and shielded officers blocked all traffic on the route of the march as Serbia tried to show it respects human rights as it seeks European Union membership.

Skirmishes were reported between small groups of extremists.
