Front of house destroyed after car smashes into it
THIS was the scene after a woman ploughed a car through the front of a house and fled from the destruction.
Luckily, no one was injured in the early morning smash, on St Margaret's Rd near Finglas in West Dublin, as the house is currently unoccupied.
However a family with young children were due to move into the premises in the coming weeks, according to shocked residents yesterday.
A number of crashes and road accidents have occurred on the stretch of road where yesterday morning's incident occurred, including a smash earlier it the week that uprooted several trees just across the road.
Yesterday's incident occurred around 7am and gardai were subsequently called to the scene.
The car had caused extensive damage to the house, completely destroying the front widow and a large part of the wall.
When gardai arrived at the scene, they discovered the woman who had been driving the car had left the scene.
They then posted a picture of the crash on the force's Facebook page and made an appeal for the driver and any witnesses to come forward to assist their investigations.
Gardai later said the woman had made contact with Finglas gardai around 2pm yesterday afternoon but no arrests had been made. They said investigations were continuing.
"Thankfully nobody was injured in the incident as the house is vacant. The crash caused massive structural damage to the house," a garda spokesperson said.
The house was boarded up following the crash.
